L R MONTGOMERY
I paint the Northwest out-of-doors where my soul breathes deepest and my heart soars.
I'm not alone in my love of the Northwest.
There are others, like me, who feel life's breath surge when they step outside. We spring to life when released from brick and mortar. We love the quiet of a meadow, the creaking sounds along a forest path, the lapping of water by a lakeshore, or the roaring of a river. We sore at the vast mountain vistas and delight in secret spots of discovery. Our spirits may whisper quietly ... basking in the wonder of it all; or we may shout, "It's time to play!"
The Northwest out-of doors give us respite from the hurried life, solace for our souls, and time with our Maker. The following words of a psalmist refer to nature and are the foundation from which I see and paint.
"They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty- and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They tell of the power of your awesome works- and I will proclaim your great deeds." Ps 145:5-6
